About Us

Founded by the General Directory of Turkey’s Cellulose and Paper Factories, the SEKA Balıkesir Paper factory launched operations in 1981. Built on 1,265,840 m2 of land adjacent to the Balıkesir-Bigadiç highway near Paşaköy, the facility boasts 40,000 m2 of indoor space. Established with the aim of producing paper for local newspapers and books, the SEKA Balıkesir Factory was converted in the scope of privatization into an anonymous company in 1997. In 2003, the factory was acquired by Albayrak Group.

After becoming part of the Group, and under the scope of modernization work, Albayrak Group purchased a paper making machine from Holmen Paper Madrid S.L., boasting a capacity of 174,000 ton/year. After being disassembled at a factory in Spain where it was in operation, it was installed in the Balıkesir SEKA facility in the first quarter of 2013.

After its assembly was completed, the facility began beta production in mid-2019 as it launched operations as the Varaka Paper Industries A.Ş. The firm’s headquarters are based in Istanbul.

As VARAKA, we use 100% recycled paper at our production facility for our products that are currently in production or scheduled to be produced as outlined below:

Varaka strives to provide more efficient, high-quality and sustainable service through continuous self-optimization and certification.

The Varaka Paper Industries Ltd. uses 100% recyclable paper as raw material in its eco-friendly production process, ensuring the re-injecting of paper and cardboard waste into the economy, which in turn greatly contributes to environmental cleanup and waste material utilization efforts. Additionally, by bypassing the use of trees in paper manufacturing, Varaka aids efforts aimed at saving thousands of trees from being cut down.

The facility generates steam needed by the factory by burning locally-produced fuel in its own Cogeneration unit, which also powers a steam turbine that meets the facility’s electricity needs, ensuring the exemplary and efficient utilization of energy resources by prioritizing environmentalism.

Wastewater resulting from the production process are discharged after being refined in a 7,000 m3/per day-capacity physical, chemical and biological purification units that keep contamination levels below standards. Part of the liquid waste is also reused in the facility’s own project to minimize water consumption.
